Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has said government alone can not funds the educational sector in the country, saying developing it required partnership of private sector and well-meaning individuals in the society.

The Governor said this at the 60th Anniversary of Akoko Anglican Grammar School, Arigidi Akoko (AKOGRAM), noting that partnership for educational development is crucial.

He commended the old students of the school for organizing the Diamond Jubilee celebration, as well as putting money together to embark on several projects in the school which includes: blocks of classrooms, school gate project and planting of 100 trees within the school compound.

While urging the old school students to continue to contribute immensely to their alma mater in the area of Infrastructural development, he opined that his administration deeply appreciates massive interventions of philanthropists, old students and non-governmental organizations in the development of schools across the 18 council areas of the state.

Governor Akeredolu alongside former Governor of Osun State and the current Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who is an alumni of the school commissioned the AKOGRAM’S School Fence and Gate House and subsequently plant the 100 proposed trees.

The Governor who saluted the great effort of Ogbeni Aregbesola at ensuring that AKOGRAM wears a new look and has befitting structures also congratulated the principal, teachers, parents, teacher association, old students and residents of the community on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of AKOGRAM.

He further emphasized that education has been at the front burner of his administration, adding that it is premised on the undeniable fact that the bedrock of any meaningful development in any nation is human capital development through the provision of quality education.

Governor Akeredolu reiterated the commitment of his administration to tackle infrastructural deficit in the state, adding that the education sector requires huge financial obligations before any significant impact could be achieved.
