Tunde Joshua, Abuja

While Omo- Agege will be contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, Hon. Victor Bala Kona has returned his duly completed expression of interest and nomination forms at the party secretariat, Abuja.

The Deputy Senate President is declaring formally at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources in Effurun.

His media adviser, Yoni Odunuga said: “top members of APC from other parts of the country will today storm Delta State to identify with the Obarisi of Urhoboland who has steadfastly promoted the party’s development agenda in the Senate, The Trumpet gathered.

“In addition to party loyalists, well-meaning citizens across various political divides, as well as friends of the state are expected to attend the declaration ceremonies.

“Senator Omo-Agege’s governorship campaign message will be based on the ‘Edge Agenda’ which focuses primarily on employment and empowerment, development, good governance and enduring security.

“As most Deltans are aware, it is a continuation and expansion of Senator Omo-Agege’s development focus in the much-applauded populist representation of his Senatorial constituency”, said Odunuga.

On his part, Victor Kona who is seeking a PDP ticket to govern Taraba promised to consolidate on the gains made by the present administration of Darius Ishaku in the state.

Addressing journalists at the PDP National headquarters shortly after submitting his nomination and expression of interest forms, he said the present administration has done well and he is poised to continue and take the state to the next level.

The aspirant who was a former PDP state Chairman dismissed insinuations that he is enjoying the support of the state as the anointed candidate of Gov. Ishiaku.

He said, “nobody has anointed me, it is only God that crown leaders. You can see the caliber of people that are with me on this project, from all the local government areas of the state. National Assembly members. This is to attest to the fact that I have support across the state.

“My campaign team is made up of various professionals, business leaders and other stakeholders.”

He charged PDP in the state to carefully handle the issue of zoning, while he clarified that as the immediate past Chairman of the party in the state it was zoning that produced the incumbent Governor, adding that based on the local arrangement all the stakeholders are now clamouring that the position should be zoned to the north.
