The outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, on Wednesday inaugurated a newly constructed mega Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Professional Registration Centre in Maiduguri, donated by the Borno State Government.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, alongside officials of the board and the Borno State Government.
The facility, officially named the Is-haq Oloyede JAMB Mega Professional Registration Centre (PRC), is located in the Borno State capital and is designed to strengthen examination and registration services for candidates across the North-East.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the centre occupies approximately 5,300 square metres of land. The complex is fully fenced, landscaped and supported by a dedicated 300kVA electricity transformer to ensure uninterrupted operations.
The administrative block houses eight offices, three conference rooms, four registration units and 16 convenience facilities.

The centre also features two state-of-the-art CBT halls fitted with 275 computers each, providing a total capacity of 550 computer terminals. The facility is capable of examining up to 500 candidates per session and about 2,000 candidates daily during examination periods.
To improve the experience of candidates, the project includes two large waiting halls capable of accommodating about 500 people simultaneously, alongside six additional convenience facilities.
Construction of the project began after Governor Babagana Umara Zulum performed the foundation-laying ceremony on February 24, 2026.
The facility was completed in less than six months, ahead of the completion schedule earlier approved by the state government.
Speaking during the inauguration, Prof. Oloyede expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for what he described as a landmark investment in Nigeria’s education sector.
He said the new centre would significantly reduce the challenges experienced by candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions, particularly those from states across the North-East region.
Oloyede also praised the governor’s sustained commitment to educational development, noting that members of the JAMB delegation had earlier toured several smart schools established by the Borno State Government and were impressed by the administration’s education reforms.
The incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, also commended Governor Zulum for the strong partnership between the state government and the examination body.
He expressed hope that the collaboration would continue, describing it as vital to strengthening JAMB’s operations and supporting educational advancement in the state.
Governor Zulum, in his remarks, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making education a priority, describing it as the most effective tool for addressing the state’s long-term social and economic challenges.
He disclosed that the Borno State Government invested more than ₦1 billion in constructing the mega CBT centre, adding that the educational and developmental benefits of the project would far exceed its financial cost.
