Ohanaeze roots for Ikonne, Nwifuru, Mba as replacements for Ikpeazu, Umahi, Ugwuanyi

The leadership of apex Igbo Socio-cultural Organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has cautioned Ndigbo about the imperilment of voting for sterile and unproductive leaders as Governors in Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu states in 2023, warning of the consequences of such mistakes will exacerbate and heighten the insecurity challenges.

Ohanaeze emphasize that would decline the economic prospects and weaken the political wills of the southeast.

This is contained in a statement signed by its President-General Mazi Okechukwu Isigozoro and made available to The Trumpet in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital on Tuesday.

According to the statement, with uncertainties, rising beastliness of violent agitation, heightened slayings from the killer herdsmen and dwindling economy, Igbos don’t need pranksters, gullible administrators and inexperienced superintendents as Governors in Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu States in 2023.

The statement read in part” Ndigbo has suffered from externally imposed leadership, which has brought political sabotage, economic woes, imperialism, and external control of governance by godfathers of their puppets Governors.

“There is urgent craving to curb the excesses of these puppets Governors in the south-east who are interested in undermining the collective bargaining and agreements of the southeast as witnessed in the build-up of 2022 Party Presidential primaries and hints of donations of lands for Ruga in the East, these ugly experiences prompt Ndigbo to discards inconsequential elements jostling to be Governors in 2023 for experienced hands for the benefits of the southeast.

“The body believes that Prof. Uche Ikonne will be a respectable successor to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in Abia State, Rt Hon Ogbonna Nwifuru will be a decent successor to Governor David Umahi in Ebonyi State while Mr Peter Mba will be a Worthy successor to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in Enugu State.”
