The Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba, has announced the construction of a modern recreation park and youth development centre in Ozoro, Delta State.

The groundbreaking announcement was made during the 2025 Children’s Day celebration held at the Council Secretariat in Ozoro, which drew an impressive crowd of enthusiastic pupils, students, teachers, and parents from across the local government area.

Addressing the audience, Hon. Ogorugba reaffirmed that his administration’s developmental vision is deeply aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the MORE Agenda of Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, both of which emphasize grassroots transformation, youth development, and social inclusion.

“With immense gratitude and joy, I celebrate this special day dedicated to our future, our children,” Ogorugba declared. “Our local government’s blueprint for development is rooted in the forward-thinking policies of both our President and our Governor. These projects are direct responses to their call for a more inclusive and progressive Nigeria.”

He revealed that construction will soon commence on a state-of-the-art recreational facility and youth centre in Ozoro, designed to serve as a safe and engaging space for young people to learn, grow, and innovate. In addition to the infrastructure project, Ogorugba also announced the upcoming launch of the Isoko North Young Leaders Forum, a mentorship initiative aimed at nurturing future civic and community leaders from among the youth.

Hon. Ogorugba praised the efforts of the First Lady of Delta State, Dcns. Tobore Oborevwori, for championing child nutrition through the state’s food supplement initiative. He noted that the program is already being effectively implemented in Isoko North by his wife, Dcns. Veronica Ogorugba, in line with broader state-wide efforts to improve children’s health and well-being.

On the issue of community safety, Ogorugba reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, saying that security remains a top priority. He emphasized the ongoing collaboration between the local government, traditional rulers, community vigilante groups, and the Nigeria Police Force, all working together to keep the area peaceful and secure.

“Every child deserves a childhood free from fear, abuse, trafficking, or neglect. We are committed to ensuring that Isoko North remains a safe haven for every child to thrive,” he added.

The Children’s Day celebration was a lively and colourful event attended by key stakeholders, including Vice Chairman of the Council, Chief Evelyn Aluta; Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Pascal Emelauha; Secretary to the Local Government, Sir Vote Umukoro; councillors, supervisors, department heads, security personnel, and community leaders.
