The Obidient Movement has called for restraint among its supporters following growing speculation over an alleged political realignment involving its principal, Peter Obi, and other opposition figures ahead of the next election cycle.

In a statement released on Saturday via X, the group’s National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, said Obi was currently engaged in consultations with political stakeholders and allies to determine what he described as the most strategic path forward for Nigerians.

“The Obidient Movement acknowledges the growing concerns and widespread reports regarding recent political developments and evolving engagements with current and potential partners,” the statement read.

The group warned supporters against reacting to unverified reports, insisting that Obi remained committed to the movement’s objectives.

“We urge all Obidients to remain calm, patient, and focused. Do not be swayed by speculative reports. Peter Obi remains fully committed to this mission and will, in due course, formally address the Obidient Movement and the general public to provide clarity,” it added.

According to the statement, ongoing consultations are being guided by principles of integrity, accountability, and citizen participation, stressing that any eventual outcome would align with its “New Nigeria” vision.

The development comes amid reports of a possible opposition coalition involving Obi and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

There have also been claims linking discussions to a proposed political platform associated with former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson.

However, none of the key figures has publicly confirmed any defection or formal alliance.
