The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has called for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, saying continuity is essential to sustain and consolidate ongoing economic reforms.
Obasa made the appeal during an interfaith prayer session held in Ikeja to mark the president’s 74th birthday, an event organised by the Mandate Movement.
According to him, the gathering was not only to pray for Tinubu’s health and leadership but also for Nigeria’s unity, peace, and long-term development.
He described the president as a pragmatic and visionary leader whose policies are already reshaping the country’s socio-economic landscape.
Highlighting key reforms under the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” Obasa pointed to the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said has boosted revenue for states, and the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, which he described as transformative for access to higher education.

He also referenced the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project as a major infrastructure initiative capable of driving economic growth and boosting tourism across the country.
The speaker further praised the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her Renewed Hope Initiative, noting its impact in areas such as food distribution, women’s empowerment, agricultural support, and digital education.
Other political figures at the event echoed similar sentiments. Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, commended Tinubu’s leadership and urged Nigerians to support his re-election bid, expressing confidence that the country would continue to benefit from ongoing reforms.
Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Tayo Ayinde, also lauded the president’s efforts to stabilise the economy, praying for continued wisdom and strength for him to lead the nation.
Lawmakers including Stephen Ogundipe and Lanre Ogunyemi called on Nigerians to celebrate the administration’s achievements and remain supportive of its policies.
Obasa concluded by urging citizens to back the President and candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections, stressing that sustained leadership is key to achieving lasting economic progress.
