The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, Comrade Grace Ike has won the African Leadership Excellence Award at the African Legendary Award (AFRILA 2025).
Ike was recognised for her outstanding leadership, humanitarian efforts, and strong influence as a broadcast journalist.
The award was presented at the third edition of the African Legendary Award held in Abuja.
She was represented by Ebriku Friday, the editor of the NUJ FCT online news platform.
Friday highlighted her leadership qualities, including her focus on the well-being of journalists, inclusivity, and transformation.

He also noted that she is the first female chairperson in the NUJ FCT Council’s 41-year history.
Ike expressed her gratitude to the organisers for the recognition and dedicated the award to God and to members of the NUJ FCT Council, for their unwavering support during her election and since her inauguration.
She urged journalists to continue to uphold ethical standards in their work, and for them to strive for fair and balanced reporting.
With over 17 years of experience as a broadcast journalist, Ike currently works with the Advocate Broadcasting Network (ADBN) in Abuja.
