The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has recognized the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) as a key partner in advancing its Employee Compensation Scheme (ECS).
The partnership leverages PHCCIMA’s extensive network of member companies to enhance the scheme’s reach and impact.
During a courtesy visit to PHCCIMA’s office in Port Harcourt on Friday, a delegation led by NSITF Regional Manager, Mr. Hycinth Chidozie, congratulated Dr. Chinyere Nwoga on her historic appointment as the first female PHCCIMA President.
Chidozie who emphasized the importance of ties with PHCCIMA to support the ECS mandate outlined NSITF’s mission, as set out under the Employees’ Compensation Act of 2010,
According to him, the mission include to provide fair, guaranteed, and adequate compensation for employees or their dependents in cases of workplace-related injury, disease, disability, or death.
“The ECS ensures financial support and rehabilitation for affected workers while maintaining a solvent compensation fund managed in the interest of both employees and employers.

“NSITF’s vision is to become Africa’s leading social security institution, driving change, social policy, economic empowerment, and poverty alleviation in Nigeria”, he said.
In her response, Dr. Nwoga underscored NSITF’s critical role in safeguarding Nigerian workers’ welfare by providing financial support during challenging times, as mandated by the Employees’ Compensation Act.
She urged NSITF to uphold transparency, accountability, and ethical standards in its operations.
She also expressed PHCCIMA’s commitment to supporting NSITF’s objectives and proposed to establish an NSITF Desk Office at PHCCIMA to enhance accessibility and visibility for its members.
Dr. Nwoga highlighted PHCCIMA’s mission to foster business growth through its trade groups and networking opportunities, positioning the Chamber as a hub for significant business prospects.
She noted PHCCIMA’s role in engaging with government agencies on behalf of its members.
