Operatives of the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested six suspected vandals for vandalizing electricity facilities at Hayin Da’e and Hotoro communities in Tarauni Local Government Area of the state
A statement issued by the spokesperson of the command, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the arrest was recorded following credible intelligence from members of the local vigilante in the area.
He said the suspects were apprehended by NSCDC personnel with vandalized transformer cables believed to have been removed from a transformer.
The suspects include 18-year-old Muhammad Yusuf, 19-year-old Muhd Adamu, Umar Musa (19), Ahmed Auwal (20), Muh’d Yusuf (28), and Usman Ali (19), who are residents of the area.

“Preliminary investigations by the corps revealed that the suspects had been terrorizing residents of Hayin Da’e, Farawa Kwanar Yashi, and the Hotoro Eastern Bypass with burglary, theft, and vandalism of electricity installations.
“The corps has since launched an investigation with a view to making further arrests based on the confessional statements obtained from the suspects,” he noted.
Abdullahi, however, pointed out that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation, adding that the NSCDC state command under the leadership of Commandant Shafi’u Abdulmumini will continue to intensify surveillance and patrols in the state to rid it of vandals and criminal elements.
