The Northern Governors’ Forum has denounced the violent attacks and killings in Kwara, Katsina, and Benue States.
The governors labeled the attacks as barbaric and senseless, viewing them as an affront to the nation’s moral fabric.
This stance of the governors was contained in a statement released on Thursday by the forum’s Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, through his media aide, Ismaila Uba-Misilli.
Gov. Yahaya conveyed the profound sorrow of the northern governors over the loss of innocent lives and extended condolences to the families, communities, and governments of the affected states.
He emphasized that the ongoing violence against defenseless individuals, including women, children, and the elderly, highlights the brutality of the attackers and the urgent need for decisive action.
“These violent acts are intolerable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms,” Gov. Yahaya stated.
The forum commended the governors of Kwara, Katsina, and Benue States for their efforts in addressing security challenges, aiding affected communities, and collaborating with federal authorities to restore peace.
Gov. Yahaya urged security agencies to enhance intelligence gathering, surveillance, and coordinated operations to apprehend those responsible for the attacks and their supporters.
