Popular Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has officially declared his intention to run for a seat in the House of Representatives, representing the Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency of Anambra State.
The announcement came on Saturday, shortly after the actor formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in his hometown of Ozubulu, Ward 5, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
Zubby’s move into partisan politics marks a significant shift from entertainment to governance, as he positions himself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Interestingly, earlier reports had linked the actor with the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party, where several South-East celebrities have recently aligned to rally support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of his expected re-election bid.

However, Zubby’s decision to pitch his tent with the ADC, considered an opposition platform, adds a new dynamic to the evolving political landscape in Anambra State.
His candidacy could influence voter sentiment, especially among youths and entertainment followers in the region.
His entry reflects a growing trend of Nigerian entertainers transitioning into active politics, potentially reshaping grassroots mobilization ahead of 2027.
