The 2025 NNPC Sports Fiestival has ended at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The fiesta showcased around 450 athletes competing in 13 different sports, including football, swimming, tennis, scrabble, and various indoor and outdoor games at multiple venues throughout Abuja stadium.

During the closing ceremony, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Bashir Ojulari expressed happiness with the Games’ success and commended the participation levels by staff members.

“I am filled with joy. I am genuinely thrilled,” he stated. “Over the last few days, I closely observed the events and realized how much I missed this. Next year, I won’t miss as much as I did this time.”

Ojulari characterized the fiesta as a clear illustration of “energy in motion,” emphasizing the vibrancy, discipline, and teamwork that he believes define the new NNPC L.

He noted that the unity and sportsmanship displayed throughout the fiesta are qualities that continue to drive the company’s transformation into a world-class energy enterprise.

He praised staff for breaking down organizational barriers, enhancing relationships, and showcasing collaboration across various business units.

Looking forward to the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) set for February 2026 in Abuja, Ojulari confidently challenged competitors, asserting that NNPC L is ready to defend its long-held title.

“Let them be prepared,” he declared confidently. “We are going to challenge them, defend our title, and elevate our winning legacy.”

Ojulari encouraged employees to carry the same discipline and enthusiasm demonstrated during the games back to their workplaces, emphasizing that excellence should be a daily standard in all departments.

Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Suileman Suileman, also hailed the 2025 edition as a tremendous success characterized by discipline, smooth organization, and meaningful connections.

He pointed out that NNPC L being a large and diverse organization, seldom has opportunities for all business units to engage, making the fiesta a crucial platform for unity and teamwork.

Suileman confirmed that all 13 sports were successfully completed for, with 12 finals held earlier and the volleyball final concluding the week-long events.

He highlighted NNPC L’s commitment to continuous improvement, stating that lessons learned from previous editions had been applied, and further enhancements would be made ahead of next year’s fiesta.

The LOC chairman added that the competition serves as a training ground for NNPC’s athletes who will represent the company at the NOGIG 2026, noting that the performance level observed this year indicates that “NNPC is ready to make a significant impact.”
