Nigeria’s Super Falcons have commenced preparations for their 2028 Olympic Women’s Football Tournament qualifying campaign, with 14 players taking part in Monday evening’s training session in Ikenne, Ogun State.
The Falcons are scheduled to face Comoros in the first leg of their qualifying fixture on Friday at the Remo Stars Stadium, before both teams meet again at the same venue in the return leg on Tuesday evening.

The 10-time African champions returned to the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament two years ago after a 16-year absence and are aiming to secure another appearance at the Los Angeles Games.
Eguavoen Releases Adegbuyi, Nkwocha To U-17 Team
Interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen has released Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, the Most Valuable Player of the recently concluded WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup in Yamoussoukro, and Favour Nkwocha, who featured for the Falconets at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, to join the Falcons.
The U-17 women’s team are expected to depart Nigeria on Wednesday for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals in Morocco.
Defender Ashley Plumptre has also been excused because of a sprain and ligament injury, while SL Benfica duo Oluwatosin Demehin and Flourish Sabastine will miss the qualifiers due to resident permit issues.
Five-time Africa Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala has equally been excused, prompting Eguavoen to invite Belarus-based former U-20 forward Blessing Okpe.
Among the 11 players expected in camp are defender Michelle Alozie, midfielders Christy Ucheibe and Jennifer Echegini, as well as captain Rasheedat Ajibade and forward Gift Monday.
