The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has reinforced its commitment to transparency and accountability with the inauguration of an expanded anti-corruption and transparency unit.
NiMet Director General, Charles Anosike, led the initiative, describing the unit as a critical pillar in the agency’s five-year strategic plan aimed at promoting excellence and institutional integrity.
According to Anosike, the expansion of the unit to eight members is designed to strengthen internal oversight and ensure a more inclusive and effective system for monitoring ethical standards within the agency.

The inauguration ceremony, held in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), highlighted a shared national objective of combating corruption through collective responsibility and proactive engagement.
As the newly inducted members took their oaths, the NiMet boss assured them of management’s full support, urging them to lead by example and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in advancing national development.
