The nation is in mourning following the announcement of the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The news was made public by his family this afternoon, revealing that he died in a London clinic.

An official statement signed by Garba Shehu, the ex-president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, confirmed that Buhari succumbed to his health issues today after being hospitalized in London.

The announcement has evoked a wave of condolences and reflections on his legacy on social media.

@Sadiq90s expressed his sorrow, posting on his X handle: “INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIR RAJI’UN. The Almighty truly has His own way of doing things. President Muhammadu Buhari faced significant health challenges early in his presidency, experiencing a serious condition during his first 100 days in office.

“However, through divine grace, he overcame that adversity and went on to serve a full eight-year term. After leaving office, he encountered a brief illness, and peacefully departed this life. May the Almighty grant him mercy and be pleased with him.”

@Prof IsaPantami shared his heartfelt sentiments, saying, “Inna lil Laahi wa inna ilaiHi Raaji’un! Our eyes shed tears, and our hearts are grieved, but we do not utter anything except what pleases our Lord.

“O Baba Buhari, your separation has deeply saddened us. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him entry into Jannatul Firdaus.”

@Yahayad4 added: “May your soul rest in eternal peace. May Almighty Allah overlook all your shortcomings and grant you Jannatul Firdaws. Amin.

“Let your passing serve as a potent reminder to all corrupt politicians in Nigeria to reflect and amend their ways… Amin.”

@abdull11said remarked this: “We pray that Allah forgives him and all our deceased relatives, granting them paradise. May Allah be pleased with us and provide us ease in both this life and the hereafter. Aamin.”

@Sylamlabu stated: “Your memory will always live within us. History will remember you kindly. You exited this world after leading a remarkable life.

“Baba Buhari, may your soul rest in peace. You led with integrity and dedication. God bless Nigeria.”

@liimerchacute poignantly noted that: “He didn’t seek to be remembered as perfect; rather, he asked for forgiveness.

“That humility, even after wielding power, is a rare quality. May Allah forgive Baba Buhari and shower him with His endless mercy. Ameen ya rabbil alamiin.”
