Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade have arrested two suspected kidnappers in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, as part of intensified security operations under Operation Lafiya Nakowa.
The arrest, which took place on September 19, follows closely on the heels of the capture of a suspected notorious terrorist in Takum Local Government Area just a day earlier.
In a statement released by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, the operation was based on credible intelligence pointing to criminal activities in the Garau axis of Rafin Taba community.
The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Umaru and Adamu Malam Musa, were apprehended during a swift and coordinated raid. They are alleged to be responsible for a series of high-profile kidnappings across Taraba State and nearby regions.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspects reportedly collected large ransom payments and admitted to transporting some of their victims across state lines into Plateau State, specifically to the infamous Madam Forest, to avoid detection.

Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and dedication.
He said the success of the operation reinforces the military’s resolve to rid the region of criminal elements threatening peace and stability.
“The Brigade remains committed to working in synergy with other security agencies to dismantle all criminal networks,” Brigadier General Uwa said. “We will not relent until full peace and security are restored.”
The Nigerian Army also urged residents to support security operations by providing timely and actionable intelligence, while warning criminal elements to desist or face decisive military action.
