The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced plans to hold its annual 10-kilometre Walk/Jog exercise this Saturday in Abuja, as part of efforts to strengthen the physical fitness and operational readiness of its personnel.
According to a statement by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the exercise will take place between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. along the service lane connecting Karu Bridge and Mogadishu Cantonment Bridge on the Abuja–Nyanya–Keffi expressway. The route will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement during the two-hour event.
Ejodame explained that the annual fitness exercise is a vital part of the Air Force’s training routine, designed to maintain peak physical performance and promote the well-being of officers and airmen. He added that all necessary security and safety arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and incident-free event.

“Physical fitness is essential to maintaining combat readiness and mission success,” Ejodame said. “We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation during this brief closure as we work to enhance the efficiency and resilience of our personnel.”
Normal traffic flow, he noted, will resume immediately after the exercise concludes. The Nigerian Air Force urged motorists and residents in the affected areas to plan their movements accordingly.
The 10km Walk/Jog exercise, which has become a long-standing tradition in the Force, underscores NAF’s commitment to promoting discipline, teamwork, and the physical conditioning necessary for national defense operations.
