American rapper Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, known worldwide as Nicki Minaj, has added her voice to the growing international demand for a decisive end to insurgent and bandit attacks in northern Nigeria.
She delivered a keynote address at a United Nations human rights gathering hosted by the U.S. Mission to the UN. The conference focused on rising religious persecution and the continued targeting of Christian communities in Nigeria.
Minaj stressed that no community should suffer violence because of its faith. She thanked former President Donald Trump for drawing global attention to the crisis and noted that her position rested on fairness and the need to defend people who face daily threats.

Trump had earlier warned that Nigeria risked being placed on the U.S. list of Countries of Particular Concern due to the unending attacks on Christian worshippers. In a video released on November 5, he cautioned that the United States would cut all aid if the Nigerian government failed to confront the killings. He added that Washington could consider military steps aimed at destroying extremist groups accused of the violence.
Minaj’s remarks have further amplified global scrutiny as pressure mounts on Nigerian authorities to restore security and protect vulnerable communities across the north.
