The Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) has announced an interim dividend of ₦1.30 per ordinary share for the six months ended June 30, 2026, underscoring a record-breaking first half and robust financial health.

Key Highlights

  • NGX Group has declared an interim dividend of ₦1.30 per ordinary share for the six months ended June 30, 2026.
  • The dividend follows a record-breaking first-half performance, supported by stronger earnings and improved cash generation.
  • The Group said it will continue investing in technology upgrades, market development and strategic opportunities while maintaining shareholder returns.
  • Analysts see the dividend as a positive signal for efforts to deepen market liquidity and attract domestic and foreign investors.
  • NGX Group is expanding its market offerings, including derivatives and other asset classes, while modernising trading infrastructure.

The dividend payment reflects the Group’s strengthened earnings, improved cash generation, and the Board’s confidence in the sustainability of its growth momentum. While committing to shareholder returns, the Group said it will maintain sufficient capital to invest in technology upgrades, market development initiatives, and strategic opportunities across the capital markets value chain.

“This interim dividend is a testament to the operational strength and strategic execution of NGX Group,” a company statement noted. “Our record first-half performance demonstrates the resilience of our business model and positions us well to deliver long-term value to shareholders while continuing to drive innovation and expansion in Nigeria’s capital markets.”

Analysts view the payout as a positive signal amid efforts to deepen liquidity and attract both domestic and foreign investors to the Nigerian market. The decision comes as the Group continues to modernize its trading infrastructure and expand product offerings, including derivatives and other asset classes, to support economic growth.

NGX Group has positioned itself as a key enabler of capital formation in Nigeria, overseeing the operations of The Nigerian Exchange Limited and related entities. The interim dividend is expected to be paid to eligible shareholders on a date to be announced, subject to necessary regulatory approvals.

Market observers anticipate that the strong H1 results could set the stage for sustained performance in the second half of 2026, provided macroeconomic conditions remain supportive. Nigeria’s capital market has seen renewed interest in recent years due to reforms aimed at improving ease of doing business and market transparency.
