The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Ondo State following the demise of Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Akeredolu(SAN) died on Wednesday in Garmany after battling a prolonged illness.
Speaking on behalf of the 19 northern governors, Yahaya lamented the loss of a “senior figure, friend, resilient advocate, and visionary leader.”
He emphasized Akeredolu’s significant impact on Ondo State’s transformation and his contributions to the nation’s development.

Highlighting Akeredolu’s multifaceted roles, the Northern Governors Forum recognized his influential positions as a lawyer, former Attorney General, NBA President, and his leadership in regional organizations, including chairing the Southwest Governors’ Forum and the Southern Governors’ Forum.
“We mourn the loss of our dear brother and friend, Governor Akeredolu. This is indeed a national loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with Her Excellency, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the entire immediate family, the Owo community, and the people of Ondo State over this monumental loss,” expressed Governor Yahaya.
The Governor concluded by offering prayers for eternal rest for the departed leader and solace for those left behind.
