Former African footballer of the year, Victor Ikpeba, has lashed at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for trying to evade blame over the inability of the Super Eagles to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar The Trumpet gathered.
According to Ikpeba, the sacking of the German coach, Gernot Rohr was never supported by Eguavoen.
Going forward, the former Super Eagle who played in France and was extolled as the ‘Prince of Monaco’ noted that Augustine Eguavoen was never the cause of the team’s poor outing in the World Cup playoff but the NFF.
The SuperSport football analyst said, “Eguavoen was not in support of the decision to sack Rohr.
“The NFF should take responsibility for Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup and not Eguavoen,” he added.
After the failure of the senior men’s football team to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the nation’s football governing body sacked the entire technical crew with Eguavoen stepping aside as the Head Coach.
