The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will host the long-awaited 77th Annual General Assembly in Lagos on Thursday, 18 August, 2022.
This is coming after a series of appeals to the football body by relevant stakeholders poised to chart a new course for Nigeria football.
In a statement by the NFF to announce the welcome development on Wednesday, the Annual General Assembly which could have been held last year on December 17, in the same state, was thwarted after an ex parte injunction was issued by a Federal High Court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State over a suit instituted by some football stakeholders.
However, in the light of steering a pathway for Nigeria football to meet world best practices, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, waded into the imbroglio, appealing to all aggrieved stakeholders to sheath its sword.

Following the Minister’s appeal and intervention, the plaintiff(s) who instituted the court case at the Federal High Court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, withdrew it after stating the terms for withdrawal on which holding the Annual General Assembly was part of their demands.
Consequently, the NFF have heeded the clamours and scheduled the event at the Best Western Plus Hotel, Victoria Island.
The event, according to the NFF, will be attended by Chairmen and Secretaries of the 44 Members of the NFF (Football Associations of all the 36 States and the FCT; the Leagues; Coaches Association; Referees Association and; the Players’ Union), Members of the NFF Executive Committee, invited dignitaries; NFF Management and Staff and; several other stakeholders.
Furthermore, the nation’s football governing body underlined as part of the agenda for Thursday that “the General Assembly will consider a roadmap towards this year’s Elective Congress of the Nigeria Football
Federation, as well as such items as may be proposed by the Members or Members of the Executive Committee”.
