The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), in partnership with FIFA, will on Friday begin a three-day capacity-building programme for women football administrators in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and promote the growth of women’s football across the country.

The programme has attracted two FIFA women’s football technical experts, Thubaelihle Sibanda and Tsholofelo Setlhoko, who have already arrived in the Federal Capital Territory to facilitate the training.

They will be joined by experienced Nigerian football and sports professionals, including NFF Executive Committee member and FIFA Media Committee member Aisha Falode, Professor Mariam Suleiman of Ahmadu Bello University, sports administration expert Dr. Anthonia Uwa, and FIFA-certified safeguarding officer Mohammed Ameenu.

A total of 41 participants are expected at the workshop, comprising officials from the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), selected State Football Associations, and staff of the NFF.

The opening day will feature sessions on FIFA’s global women’s football strategy, leadership development, programme planning, mentoring young girls, and performance accountability in football administration.

On Saturday, discussions will focus on closing the gap between men’s and women’s football, assessing the current state of women’s football in Nigeria, the NFF’s women’s football development strategy, strategic planning, and safeguarding.

The programme forms part of FIFA’s broader commitment to equipping women football administrators with the knowledge and leadership skills needed to advance the women’s game.
