Kaduna State Governor Nazir El-Rufai and one of the members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s kitchen cabinet have threatened to shun activities of the All Progressives Congress (APC) unless certain agreements are reached on the party’s crisis are adhered to and implemented.
El – Rufai is one of the antagonists of the chairman of the party’s Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Mai Mala Buni. He played an active role in enthroning Niger State Governor Sani Bello as acting chairman of APC while seeking to oust Buni from the leadership power corridor.
The Kaduna helmsman up until Tuesday loomed larger than life as leader of the new order in the party with more APC governors on his side against the Buni-led CECPC.
However, the table turned when it dawned on Buhari that quick action needed to be taken to salvage the party from total collapse under the unpalatable weight of litigations.

The President in a letter transmitted from London cautioned the party not to swim against the tide legally but to allow Buni back in office to complete the mandate of conducting a national convention which will give birth to a new leadership that will steer the ship of APC towards the 2023 election.
Buhari’s letter, no doubt derobed El- Rufai, Justice minister, Abubakar Malami and others in the party’s power play, The Trumpet gathered.
The President categorically warned them to leave Buni alone to complete his assignment in the CECPC. Apparently disquieted by the President’s stand, El- Rufai took to his tweeter handle late Friday to express his feelings in a message that has grave conotations for the polity.
As shared, it reads: “Your Excellences, unity is impossible to attain when leaders that are in office, because we consented to it, are consistently erratic, capricious, corrupt, and deceitful. “Loyalty begets loyalty. “Deception begets mistrust.
“Betrayal begets revolt. “Ineptness, greed, and selfishness threaten to destroy what has been built over nearly a decade, by those who didn’t even know how this party was put together. “Let’s restate that I am done with this charade, unless concrete, honest and transparent steps are taken to implement our agreed plans under a leadership we trusted.
“Thank you. Nasir ElRufai.” However, Buni swiftly just paid El-Rufai a visit, raising hopes that the March 26 National Convention would hold as planned. ‘’In politics, disagreement does not necessarily amount to enmity. March 26th is the Day. Make no Mistake about it,’’ an official of the party reportedly said.
