Kano State has a new helmsman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as Commandant Shafi’u Abdulmumin officially takes over leadership. The transition of power occurred on Friday in a brief but symbolic ceremony where Abdulmumin succeeded Commandant Mohammed Falala. High-ranking officers from the 12 zonal commands and top management staff bore witness to the historic moment.
Commandant Abdulmumin, a native of Dayi in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, expressed his commitment to reinforcing security across Kano. He called for unwavering support from officers and stakeholders, emphasizing that collaboration is key to advancing the Corps’ mission.

Describing Kano as his “second home,” the new Commandant pledged to enhance the protection of critical national assets, infrastructure, and the lives and property of residents. Meanwhile, outgoing Commandant Falala expressed gratitude for his tenure in Kano, urging officers to extend full cooperation to his successor to ensure continuity and progress.
With Abdulmumin at the helm, Kano residents are hopeful for improved security measures and a strengthened NSCDC presence in the state.
