Assistance from the North East Development Commission (NEDC) has again been extended to the recent flood victims in Taraba state.
The items which came yesterday, as observed by our state correspondent, are drugs and consumables worth several millions of Naira.
Making the items available to the flood victims through the state government, the leadership of the commission, said the donations have become necessary to ameliorate the untold hardships caused by the flood.
Led by the state coordinator, Bashir Hammanjoda Nguroje, the need for the authority concerned to ensure that the items are taken directly to the affected victims, he believed has become very vital.
The commission, which vowed not to cease from throwing its weight in support of victims of disasters in the state and the North East region at large, promised to do more for the Taraba state government.
Following recent heavy rainfall, several houses were observed to have been submerged in some local government councils of the state.
Apart from the havoc wreaked by the disaster, unspecified numbers of persons especially women and children, were also noticed to have been displaced, the situation which has exposed them to various forms of ailments.
