The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 636,600 bottles of codeine-based syrup with a street value of N4.4 billion at the Onne Port in Rivers State.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Media and Advocacy at the NDLEA, Mr. Femi Babafemi, on Sunday in Abuja.
Babafemi said that the drugs were intercepted in shipments from India on December 9, December 11and December 13.

“NDLEA officers, Nigeria Customs Service men and other security agencies at the port jointly examined four containers and made the seizures,” he stated
He said that this was made possible after NDLEA agents processed reliable intelligence on the shipments.
“At the port complex, Onne, Rivers State, no fewer than 636,600 bottles of codeine-based syrup worth N4.4billion in street value were intercepted in shipments from India,”he said.
