Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a China-based Nigerian businessman and two Angolan nationals who excreted a combined 236 wraps of cocaine after being intercepted at airports in Abuja and Kano.

The suspects, Ibeanu Chukwudulue, 34, and Angolans Mbandu Martins Makiadi, 50, and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, 52, were arrested on February 4, 2026, during separate operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.

Ibeanu was apprehended while boarding a Qatar Airways flight from Kano to China, via Abuja and Doha.

Acting on intelligence, NDLEA operatives requested that he be deboarded for a body scan, which confirmed ingestion of illicit drugs.

He was subsequently placed under observation and excreted 52 pellets of cocaine weighing 735.95 grams.

In his statement, Ibeanu disclosed that he previously operated a business on Lagos Island before relocating to Guangzhou, China, in 2024.

In a related operation at the Kano airport, Makiadi and Fernando were intercepted at the departure hall while attempting to travel to Istanbul, via Addis Ababa on an Ethiopian Airlines flight.

Body scans confirmed they had ingested drugs.

Under observation, Makiadi excreted 76 wraps weighing 920 grams in seven rounds, while Fernando expelled 108 pellets weighing 1.33 kilograms in five excretions.

The Angolan suspects, both from Hoji Ya Henda in Luanda, claimed they were recruited by an automobile spare parts dealer who promised them $3,000 each upon successful delivery of the drugs in Turkey.

In Lagos, NDLEA operatives foiled an attempt by a convicted drug trafficker currently serving a jail term to export cocaine to the United Kingdom.

Olashupo Oladimeji, who is serving a five-year sentence at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre following his conviction by the Federal High Court in Lagos in 2025, for conspiracy to export 17.90kg of cocaine, allegedly orchestrated a fresh shipment of 1.10 kilograms of cocaine from behind bars.

The illicit consignment, concealed in processed cassava granules (garri) and packed inside a carton, was intercepted at the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on February 12.

NDLEA arrested Adedeji Gbolahan, a staff of Dimeji Express Logistics, a company linked to Oladimeji, who presented the cargo for export.

Investigations revealed the convicted kingpin directed Yusuf to collect the consignment from a location in Oshodi, Lagos.

In a separate case at the same airport, a 44-year-old estate surveyor, Adelaja Adetayo, was arrested over an attempt to export 1.70 kilograms of skunk hidden inside five jerry cans to the UK.

A cargo agent who processed the shipment was also detained before operatives tracked down Adelaja in the Ahmadiyya area of Lagos.

In Abuja, NDLEA officers intercepted a waybill package from Enugu containing a children’s toy guitar.

A search revealed two parcels of Canadian loud, a potent cannabis strain, weighing 59.2 grams concealed inside the instrument.

A follow-up operation led to the arrest of the owner, Henry Onuma, at Dream City Estate, Life Camp.

Meanwhile, in Lagos, operatives raided a four-bedroom duplex in Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki, allegedly used for the production and storage of Colorado, a synthetic cannabis product.

The raid followed the earlier seizure of 73 cartons of nitrous oxide at Iyare Motor Park, along the Ajah–Epe Expressway. The consignment was reportedly headed to Benin City.

Two suspects, Amos Innocent, the driver conveying the shipment, and Victor Oyedeji, were arrested. Officers recovered 13.2 kilograms of freshly produced Colorado and precursor chemicals from the Lekki residence.

In Ibadan, Oyo State, a suspected drug dealer, Oluwayemisi Bunmi, 45, was arrested at her base in the Hope Alakia area. Recovered items included 1.189kg of Colorado and skunk, 320 grams of methamphetamine, ₦2.97 million in cash, and two Toyota Matrix vehicles.

In Kwara State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a Peugeot J5 vehicle at Bode Saadu and recovered 105,400 tramadol pills from a suspect, Kamilu Abdullahi, 43.
