The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a stern warning to the public regarding the so-called “miracle” products—water, soap, and perfumes—being produced and sold by Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry (CMDM), led by Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin. The agency has labeled these products as fake and unapproved, urging Nigerians to avoid patronizing them.

The products in question, including “Miracle Water,” “Miracle Soap,” and “Father Smelled Perfume,” have been the subject of controversy after social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, accused the ministry of falsely claiming NAFDAC approval. Responding to these allegations, NAFDAC confirmed that none of these products are registered or approved by the agency.

NAFDAC, through its Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, clarified the situation in a statement, stating, “The public is hereby alerted that Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry is using NAFDAC’s name to deceive the public by selling unregistered and unapproved products.” According to the agency, CMDM has been promoting these products with false claims of healing powers, including promises that women who use their products would conceive twins.

Several of the ministry’s products, such as “River Jordan Water,” “Pool of Bethsaida Water,” and “Mount Carmel Miracle Water,” were submitted to NAFDAC for investigation. After reviewing the evidence, NAFDAC found no record of any approved products associated with the ministry.

NAFDAC’s investigation, which included undercover operations, revealed that CMDM was selling Miracle Water at ₦3,000 per 25cl bottle. Despite CMDM’s denial of producing these products, NAFDAC’s findings contradict their claims, with clear evidence showing CMDM’s involvement in the sale of these unregistered items.

Following an attempt to investigate CMDM’s manufacturing site, NAFDAC agents were met with non-cooperation from the ministry’s officials. Despite being summoned for questioning, CMDM refused to comply with NAFDAC’s investigation. In response, NAFDAC took further action by sealing off the factory responsible for producing CMDM’s Miracle Water.

In response to NAFDAC’s findings, Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, through its media team, denied the accusations. The ministry claimed it has never used NAFDAC’s name to deceive the public and maintained that it adheres to the tenets of its Christian faith, using “spiritual items” as expressions of their religious beliefs.

CMDM also stated that the ongoing investigations stem from a petition filed by Martins Vincent Otse, whom the ministry has already sued for defamation. The church accused Otse of forging receipts to lodge a complaint with NAFDAC and claimed that NAFDAC has yet to provide any formal feedback on these issues.
