The Nigerian Air Force as part of ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ has destroyed a factory producing improvised explosive devices and several gun trucks in Kwaltiri, situated in the unstable Tumbuktu Triangle of Borno State.

The targeted airstrikes, carried out on June 18, 2025, were based on reliable intelligence indicating increased terrorist activity in the region.

Surveillance missions confirmed the presence of an IED production site and multiple vehicles associated with the insurgents.

In a statement released on Thursday by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the air force said that the airstrikes resulted in the elimination of numerous terrorists.

“These strikes significantly disrupted the terrorists’ logistical and command structures,” the statement said.

Ejodame emphasized that the successful operation not only hindered the terrorists command and control systems, but also weakened their logistics, greatly affecting their operational effectiveness and morale.

The air commodore further stated that the mission underscores NAF’s steadfast commitment to dismantling terrorist strongholds and restoring peace in the North East region.

The statement noted that “the Nigerian Air Force, operating under ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ has destroyed an IED factory, terrorist gun trucks, and eliminated dozens of fighters in Kwaltiri, within the Tumbuktu Triangle, Borno State.

The airstrike on June 18, 2025, was prompted by intelligence reports of terrorist activity in the area.

“Surveillance confirmed the existence of an IED-making site and vehicles, which were targeted in precise strikes by NAF aircraft.

“This operation represents a significant setback for the terrorists’ combat capabilities, as the successful strikes disrupted their command and control as well as logistics, sending shockwaves through their ranks and severely diminishing their morale and operational momentum.

“It reinforces NAF’s determination to weaken terrorist capabilities and improve security in the North-East.”
