MTN Nigeria’s biggest Mobile Network Operator (MNO) based on the number of subscribers on its network is ready to launch commercial Fifth Generation (5G) network service this month of August.
Chairman of MTN Nigeria, Ernest Ndukwe, who disclosed this at the weekend in Lagos, during the Titans of Tech Awards, organised by Tech TV said: “MTN Nigeria is ready for the commercial launch of 5G Service in Nigeria by this month of August.”
In his remarks at the event, Ndukwe, who was former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) told participants at the event that MTN Nigeria was one of the two winners of the two 100 MHz TDD slots of the 3.5 GHz band for the deployment of the 5G network in December 2021.

MTN had in 2019 done a trial launch of the 5G Networking in Abuja and gave Nigerians the assurance that they would get the full benefits derivable from the deployment of 5G in the country.
