The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) has called for a transparent investigation into reports that the name of Dunamis International Gospel Centre appeared on payment receipts linked to Nigerian passport renewal transactions.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the group said the alleged development has raised concerns about the neutrality and integrity of public service systems, particularly those tied to sensitive national processes.

According to reports cited by MPAC, some Nigerians who paid for passport services through a channel integrated with Paystack observed an unexpected reference to a Christian organisation in their transaction details.

Reacting to the claims, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) denied any affiliation with the church and insisted that all passport applications and payments are conducted solely on its official portal.

The agency described the reports as false and said an investigation into the alleged anomaly is underway.

MPAC, while acknowledging the NIS response, said the issue requires more than a denial, noting that “the appearance—whether real or manipulated—of any religious institution within a government payment framework raises serious questions about system security and oversight.”

The group warned that even isolated incidents could erode public trust and deepen suspicion in a country with strong religious sensitivities.

MPAC therefore urged authorities to conduct an independent and transparent investigation, publish the findings, and carry out a comprehensive audit of all third-party payment integrations used in government services.

It also called for clear accountability measures and strengthened cybersecurity safeguards to prevent recurrence.

The organisation advised Nigerians to remain calm and to rely only on verified official platforms, including the NIS passport application portal, for all passport-related transactions.

“At a time when Nigeria is striving to build trust in its institutions, transparency must not only be upheld but seen to be upheld,” the statement said.
