Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has emphasized the urgent need for a thorough overhaul of Nigeria’s higher education curriculum.
He appealed during a meeting with the Governing Council of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, and the newly established Federal University of Health Sciences Azare at the Government House, in Bauchi state.
The governor was observed to have expressed concern that Nigerian universities are struggling to meet current educational demands and that the existing curriculum is insufficiently preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century.

He highlighted that addressing youth restlessness and unemployment requires a holistic reform of the higher education curriculum.
The governor also addressed recent security concerns at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, assuring the attendees that measures have been implemented to resolve the issues.
Presenting the newly inaugurated governing board, the Pro-Chancellor of
ATBU, retired Air Commodore Emmanuel Jakada, thanked the governor for allowing the use of the ATAP Azare campus as a temporary facility for the new institution and sought ongoing government support and cooperation.
