Minister delighted at speedy consideration of National Digital Economy, the E-Governance Bill
The Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has expressed delight at the speedy consideration of the National Digital Economy and the E-Governance Bill by the National Assembly.

On his official X handle, the minister said, “today, we spotlight the National Digital Economy and E-Governance Bill (NDEB), a groundbreaking legislative effort to establish a unified legal framework for Nigeria’s digital economy.

“The bill addresses crucial areas such as electronic transactions, data protection, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure, offering comprehensive coverage for activities within the digital space.”

Unlike previous legislations, the minister explained that the bill is designed as an all-encompassing law that responds to the evolving realities of our digital future.

“So far, the draft bill has undergone rigorous review in all 36 states, with inputs from over 2,500 stakeholders across public, private, and civil society sectors.

“Next, we will reintroduce the bill to the National Assembly for second and third readings, with a clear target of achieving presidential assent.

“This will be a major milestone in advancing the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ by strengthening the legal backbone of Nigeria’s digital economy,” Tunji stated.
