Delta State Police Command has arrested Gabriel Volts, 33 years who allegedly beheaded his son for a money ritual in Benin City, Edo State.
It was learned that the suspect used a hand saw to cut off the head of his one year and eight months old son at Ewabogun bush in Edo state for ritual purposes and buried him by the palm tree.
The suspect was arrested after his wife; the mother of the child lounged a formal complaint to the police Quick Response Team, Warri ‘A’ Division that she was suspecting her husband to be responsible for the sudden disappearance of their child.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, the mother of the child, Mrs Success Oduwa, 24 years, having discovered that their child was missing asked the husband about his whereabouts and was told by the suspect that the child was with his sister in Warri, Delta State.
The wife it was learnt, travelled down to Warri to confirm if the child was really with the husband’s sister, however, on getting to Warri she discovered that the husband had lied which raised her suspicion and prompted her to report the case to the Police in Warri.
The statement said, “She reported to the Commander, Quick Response Squad, that she is suspecting her husband named, Volt Blessing Gabriel (m) age 33yrs of the same address, to have killed their child named Godspower Gabriel (m) aged one year and eight months for ritual purposes. The Commander RRS detailed operatives who swung into action arrested the husband and handed him over to the DPO ‘A’ Division Warri for further investigation.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have murdered the said child at Ewabogun bush by catholic road, Benin city using a hand saw to cut off the head and buried it by a palm tree in the bush and threw the headless body of the child away.
“The suspect also stated that he actually killed the child, because of a dream he had, where he saw a man who told him that, if he kills the child, and use the child’s blood to rub his head, he will become rich.”
Similarly, Operatives of the Dragon Patrol team while on stop and search duty along Eku – Abraka road in Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State, have arrested the trio of Jeffrey Osemudiamen ‘m’ age 36, Eddy Gabriel ‘m’ age 33, and Promise Imade ‘m’ age 31, allegedly responsible for robbing a POS operator of undisclosed cash.
The suspects, according to the PPRO, were arrested after they were recognized and reported by their victim, adding that one locally-made gun, four live cartridges, one walkie-talkie set, and four android phones suspected to have been stolen were recovered from them.
