The commission, chaired by Prof. Mojeed Owoade, was inaugurated on Friday at the Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Makinde said the decision to establish an independent panel was not intended to undermine the work of security agencies but to ensure that every lesson from the incident is learned, all unanswered questions are addressed, and the facts surrounding the abduction are established.
He charged the commission with investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack, identifying any institutional or operational failures, and recommending measures to improve the protection of schools and communities against future attacks.

The governor assured the panel of the state government’s full support to enable it to carry out its assignment independently and professionally. He gave the commission four weeks to submit its report, noting that an extension could be granted if necessary to ensure a thorough investigation.
Speaking on behalf of the commission, its chairman, Prof. Mojeed Owoade, pledged that the panel would conduct its work with fairness and integrity.
“Our report and recommendations will be based on nothing but the truth,” he assured.
Other members of the commission include Prof. Jibril Ibrahim, Mrs. Ayo Obẹ, retired AIG Ngozi Onadeko, Mr. Abimbola Orogade, retired Maj.-Gen. Sanusi Muazu, Mr. Folorunsho Osunrayi, while Mrs. Olamide Sandra Tella will serve as the commission’s secretary.
