Maj.-Gen. Babatunde Ayala has officially resumed as the 25th Director-General of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) on Wednesday in Kaduna. Before this role, he was in charge of the Command Engineering Depot for the Nigerian Army.

Ayala replaces Maj.-Gen. Anaedi Edet, who has been assigned to a new position at the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre in Abuja. Ayala is a member of the Nigerian Defence Academy’s 43 Regular Course.

Ayala expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Chief of Army Staff for trusting him with this important position. He also praised Edet for his achievements, particularly for starting the production of ammunition and other essential items at DICON.

Ayala promised to continue the good work that Edet began and emphasized the importance of teamwork among the staff to meet the needs of the military and other security agencies.

In his farewell address, Edet urged the staff to support Ayala in his new role and thanked President Tinubu for signing a new law that benefits DICON.

Since taking charge in July 2023, Edet reported that he had helped improve DICON’s production capacity by overseeing the creation of key defence equipment.

He also expressed gratitude to the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Service Chiefs for their support during his tenure.
