The Presidential flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has reiterated his desire for devolution of powers to states and local councils if given the mandate come February 25, 2023.
He assured the people of South-East that under him as President, the issue of insecurity and marginalisation would be a thing of the past.
The former vice President stated this on Thursday, at the PDP Presidential campaign Rally held at PA Ngele Oruta Township stadium, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital.
According to him, since the formation of the party and return to democracy, Ebonyi state had remained in PDP urging the people of the state to vote for him and other Candidates at all levels.
Atiku stated that youths and women’s Empowerment would form one of his administration’s principles when he assumed office saying that the eight years regime of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has destroyed the country.
Addressing party supporters, National Chairman of PDP, Senator Iyiocha Ayu, stated that the developmental strides recorded in Ebonyi state since 1999 were under the party during the time of Dr Sam Egwu, Martin Elechi despite governor David Umahi’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ayu, who stated that Ebonyi state is blessed with good governors under the party, urged the people to return to the fold.
The Director-general of Atiku/Okowa Presidential campaign council and governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tabuwal, said the party’s Candidate would transform the country and fix the economy.
The party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, promised to make Ebonyi state the preferred investment destination, stimulate growth opportunities and improve the livelihood and capacity of the people.
Dignitaries at the event include; former vice President, Namadi Sabo, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, former governor of Imo state, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, members of the campaign council among others.
