Liverpool has closed in on Premier League leaders Manchester City after defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 today, Saturday, at the American Express Community Stadium.
The visitors got into scoring a start through a fast-break orchestrated by Joel Matip’s flipped-pass to Luiz Diaz who headed home a 19th-minute goal.
Brighton, who held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at Anfield when both clubs clashed on October 30, 2021, tackled Liverpool squarely but were unable to get a goal, The Trumpet gathered.
The Reds, in the second half, doubled the lead through the effort of Muhamed Salah from the penalty spot in the 61st minute.

All efforts by the Seagulls to get back into the game despite possessing a greater portion of the ball never yielded a goal result.
However, Liverpool hosts Arsenal on Wednesday in their next feature at Anfield while the 13-placed (Premier League table) Brighton hosts Tottenham at the American Express Community Stadium.
