Liverpool surged four points clear at the top of the Premier League table after a spectacular 6-3 victory over Tottenham, with Mohamed Salah delivering a masterclass that solidified his status as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.

Salah dazzled at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, scoring twice and assisting two more in a performance that left fans and pundits alike in awe. The Egyptian forward, who now boasts 15 goals and 11 assists this season, continues to set the standard in the league. His brace elevated him to fourth place on Liverpool’s all-time top scorer list with 229 goals, surpassing Billy Liddell and trailing only Ian Rush, Roger Hunt, and Gordon Hodgson.

Liverpool capitalized on Chelsea’s earlier stumble—a goalless draw against Everton—to extend their lead at the top, reaffirming their credentials as title favorites as the festive season approaches. Under the guidance of Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp in the summer, Liverpool have become an unstoppable force, winning 21 of their 25 matches across all competitions this season.

The game showcased Liverpool’s attacking prowess, starting with Luis Diaz’s powerful header from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross in the 23rd minute. Alexis Mac Allister doubled the lead shortly after, nodding home following a fortuitous deflection from Dominik Szoboszlai’s effort.

Tottenham momentarily showed resistance when James Maddison capitalized on a Mac Allister error to score from outside the box. However, Szoboszlai quickly restored Liverpool’s two-goal cushion, linking up brilliantly with Salah in first-half stoppage time to slot the ball through Fraser Forster’s legs.

After halftime, Liverpool’s dominance continued with Salah seizing the spotlight. In the 54th minute, he pounced on a loose ball in the box to tap home his first of the night. Seven minutes later, Salah struck again, converting a pinpoint pass from Szoboszlai to extend his hot streak to six goals in five matches.

Tottenham attempted a late rally as Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke both found the net, but Liverpool’s firepower proved too much. Salah’s vision created a final flourish in the 85th minute, setting up Diaz for a composed finish to seal the emphatic win.

The result leaves Tottenham languishing in 11th place, their defensive frailties brutally exposed. For manager Ange Postecoglou, the mounting pressure could signal a turning point in his tenure.

Meanwhile, Salah’s brilliance only intensifies speculation about his future at Anfield, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. Free to negotiate with foreign clubs in January, Liverpool fans will hope the club can secure his services beyond this campaign.

With Salah leading the charge and Slot’s tactical expertise driving the team forward, Liverpool appear destined to reclaim the Premier League title. As the Reds maintain their relentless form, their rivals are left chasing shadows in what is shaping up to be another historic season at Anfield.
