Aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enhwe Ward 9, in the Isoko South local government area, have urged the state leadership of the party to maintain the status quo in the rotation of the Councillorship seat between the community and neighbouring Okpolo.
The aggrieved PDP faithful, who stormed Asaba to protest the alleged denial of the Councilorship candidacy for the forthcoming local government election to Mr Agwonigho Edwin of Enhwe clan, said the rotation arrangement had remained constant since 1998.
Pastor Emuhowho Ogodo, who spoke on behalf of the party members at the Government House gate, noted that rotation of the Councilorship seat had been seamless over the years, adding that the Enhwe and Okpolo clans had peacefully enjoyed the arrangement.
He said it would amount to an injustice if Agwonigho Edwin, who reportedly won the Councilorship primaries in Ward 9, was made to lose the candidacy of the party to another person from Okpolo clan, who was said to have been endorsed for a second tenure by the party.
Also speaking, a concerned indigene of Enhwe, Prince Daniel Osha, appreciated the fact that the electoral contest was a family affair, but insisted that equity, fairness and justice must apply to the process.

Prince Osha appealed to the State Governor, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, to intervene in the matter to ensure that Enhwe was not short-changed.
Addressing the protesters at the Government House gate, the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, thanked them for the peaceful conduct and assured them that their grievance would be looked into
The protesters had earlier visited the State Secretariat of the PDP where they made their grievance known to the State Chairman, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso and urged him to right the perceived wrong.
