Dozens of traders in Lagos are facing significant losses following a midnight fire that consumed parts of the Ladipo market in Mushin and the Owode Onirin market along the Mile 12-Ikorodu road.
The blaze erupted shortly after the traders had left for the night, and despite the efforts of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, it spread rapidly, causing substantial damage to goods and property valued in the millions.
Fire officials, including the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed that no casualties were reported.

However, the cause of the fires remains unknown as firefighting efforts continue. At the Ladipo market, the fire affected a warehouse filled with various wares, including mechanical tools, vehicles, and household appliances.
Crews faced challenges accessing the site but worked diligently to protect neighboring properties.
Simultaneously, a similar fire broke out at the Owode Onirin market, involving shops selling metallic materials. Fortunately, the situation at both locations is now under control, as crews from the Alausa and Ikorodu fire stations manage the aftermath.
