The Kogi State government has confirmed that a woman recently rescued from kidnappers has given birth to twin girls at the state’s Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, who said the mother’s identity is being kept confidential for security reasons.

Fanwo stated that Governor Usman Ododo has ordered immediate medical care for both the mother and her newborns.

“Governor Ododo has directed the state security adviser and the commissioner for health to transfer the mother and her twin daughters to the State Specialist Hospital for full medical attention and postnatal care,” Fanwo said.

He added that both the mother and the babies are reported to be in stable condition.

The government reminded the public that the IDP camp serves as a temporary rehabilitation centre for rescued kidnapping victims, providing care, psychosocial support, and other assistance before reuniting them with their families.

Fanwo further noted that ongoing security operations across Kogi State have led to a steady increase in the number of rescued victims at the camp.

The state government reiterated its commitment to the welfare, rehabilitation, and reintegration of rescued individuals while praising security agencies for their continued successes in combating criminal activities within the state.
