Global social media star Khaby Lame has been unveiled as an official ambassador for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, adding fresh momentum to preparations for the first-ever Olympic event to be hosted on African soil.
Lame joins a distinguished lineup of ambassadors, including Omar Sy, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Eva Neymar, reflecting the growing global appeal and cultural reach of the Games beyond the sporting arena.
The Italian-Senegalese content creator, who was officially appointed in Dakar on March 26, 2026, described his new role as both an honour and a responsibility.
He said the opportunity aligns with his passion for supporting young African talent and promoting the continent’s potential on the global stage.
According to Lame, the upcoming Games will serve as a powerful platform to highlight Africa’s strengths, inspire young people, and project a positive image of the continent to the world.
Rising to international fame during the COVID-19 era, Lame built a massive global following through his simple, relatable, and wordless videos.
His unique style has resonated strongly with younger audiences, positioning him as a key figure in promoting the values of the Youth Olympic Games.
President of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee, Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye, said Lame’s appointment reflects the excitement and widespread engagement surrounding the event.
