Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has urged the state taskforce on voters registration to ensure the number of voters registered in the state reach 10 million at the end of the ongoing continuous voter registration excercise currently ongoing across the country.
The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Farouk Umar, made this known on Friday, while innuagurating the 36-member committee, chaired by the Commissioner of Information, Abdullahi Waiya in his office.
The governor urged the chairman to mobilize the citizens and ensure they get registered, highlighting that voters card are veritable instrument for citizens to exercise their civic duties and elect who governs them.
He noted that Kano State is a politically vibrant state, hence the government sees it as a necessity to put it in place a process that will ensure active participation, hence the set up of the committee.
He noted that the state has about five million voters, and the committee is expected to make massive mobilization to hit 10 million by the end of the exercise.

While reiterating government commitment to supporting the process, Gov. Yusuf tasked them to work in fairness and transparent manner ensuring no one is denied.
He also tasked the committee to ensure they collaborate with INEC and other relevant stakeholders to enlighten and mobilise the public as well as monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the process.
In his remarks, Chairman of the committee, Waiya, thanked the governor for finding them worthy to serve, saying, it is call to service.
He assured that, they will mobilised people across the nook and crannies of the state to ensure they double the number as required by the government.
