Kaduna: Troops neutralise bandits in Birnin Gwari

There is currently a military onslaught against bandits in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Birnin Gwari LGA had been on the news over incessant bandits attack. A terrorist group had promised to defend the locals against their opponents if they are willing to do their bindings; marry their daughters, while paying agreed sums of money as ransom.

However, a source told our reporter in Kaduna, on Thursday, that troops have begun an onslaught of terrorists across the local government area.

Confirming the killings of some terrorists, Mr Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, who confirmed in a statement on Thursday, said troops of Operation Forest Sanity made further gains as they continued fighting patrols and clearance operations in the Birnin Gwari area.

According to the statement, the troops made contact with the bandits at Farin Ruwa and neutralized two bandits in the encounter.

He said the criminal elements were forced to withdraw under the troops’ superior firepower.

“The Kaduna State Government received the development with satisfaction, and commended the troops for another successful round of operations,” Aruwan said.
