The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has intensified its groundbreaking “Tax Thursday” initiative aimed at expanding the state’s tax net through grassroots engagement and public enlightenment.

The Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Comrade Jerry Adams, led the charge as he addressed participating teams and staff at the Service’s corporate headquarters, urging them to maintain the highest level of professionalism and dedication during the weekly outreach.

According to Adams, the Tax Thursday program is more than a campaign, it’s a strategic platform designed to educate business owners, engage directly with taxpayers, and foster a deeper understanding of Kaduna’s revenue processes.

He explained that every Thursday, teams are deployed across the state to share educational materials, clarify available payment channels, and guide residents on how to use the PAYKADUNA platform for seamless tax assessment and payment. He reiterated that the agency is fully discouraging cash transactions in a bid to enhance transparency and efficiency.

In a joint show of support, top officials including the Executive Director of Standard and Compliance, Alh. Ali Garba Gora; Executive Director of Corporate Services, Alh. Umar San; and Board Secretary/Legal Adviser, Barrister Aysha Ahmad Mohammad, urged all participants to remain professional and uphold the core values of the initiative.

They emphasized that the principle of “tax for service” must be clearly communicated to the public to reinforce trust and improve voluntary tax compliance across Kaduna State.

With the growing success of Tax Thursday, KADIRS is positioning itself as a model for innovative revenue mobilization in Nigeria, showing how strategic outreach and digital solutions can transform public perception and participation in tax payment.
