Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has responded to the controversy surrounding his removal from a ValueJet flight on August 5, insisting the claims are exaggerated, misleading, and far from the truth.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, K1 refuted allegations that he caused a disruption on the Lagos-bound flight, clarifying that the flask in question contained nothing more than plain drinking water provided to him at the airport lounge. He said efforts to explain this were ignored, escalating a misunderstanding into a full-blown spectacle.
“There was no misconduct, no threat to aviation safety, and certainly no alcohol involved,” Rasheed said. “K1 De Ultimate is a seasoned traveler who respects aviation rules and would never act in a way that compromises flight safety. If he had done anything wrong, airport security wouldn’t have later apologized or offered him a private jet to continue his trip, which he politely declined.”
The singer’s team claims that eyewitnesses, including lounge staff, have confirmed the flask contained only water. They also pointed fingers at attempts to scapegoat K1 following reports that the pilot involved in the incident had his license suspended, possibly as a result of breaching standard operating procedures.

Videos of the altercation circulated online showing K1 engaging with airport personnel near the aircraft as tensions mounted. Sources had claimed the singer refused to surrender a flask believed to contain alcohol and protested by walking to the front of the plane, leading to his removal.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has taken disciplinary action against the airline, suspending two ValueJet pilots for initiating takeoff procedures while passengers were still on the tarmac. The authority also hinted at the possibility of sanctioning K1 further, including a potential ban from future flights.
K1’s camp insists the artist was the victim in the incident and is fully cooperating with ongoing investigations. They’ve urged the media to avoid sensationalism and stick to verified facts, emphasizing that K1 remains a responsible and law-abiding citizen.
As the saga unfolds, all eyes are on the NCAA’s final decision and whether K1 De Ultimate’s name will be cleared or further entangled in aviation controversy.
