The Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Benibo Anabraba, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Anabraba announced his decision in a resignation letter dated January 5, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 1 in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
In the letter, the SSG described his decision to leave the opposition party as a personal choice.

He also expressed gratitude to the PDP for the political opportunities and exposure he gained during his tenure as a party member.
“I appreciate the political leverage gained from the party during the period of my membership,” he stated.
Although Anabraba did not reveal his next political destination, sources suggest that he may be preparing to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
